One person was dead and seven were reported missing after a private yacht sank overnight in the waters of Russia's Lake Baikal in southern Siberia, the ITAR-TASS news agency reported on Thursday.

Five of the yacht's passengers were rescued, including a child who was rushed to the hospital, local emergency officials were quoted as saying.
The search for the missing passengers continued, officials added.
