One person was killed and six people were injured on Saturday when a fire broke out at a garment factory in Sector 63.

The incident occurred at 2.50am at the C-39 factory located on the first floor of the building. Soon, the fire engulfed second and third floors where an office of a consultancy firm and a call centre are situated.

"Ranjit Kumar got trapped in the fire. Our men managed to bring him out. He was immediately rushed to a hospital where he died within hours. His home town is in Nepal," said fire station officer (III) Somdutt Sonkar.
"The factory does not have a proper fire safety measures. We faced difficulty in our rescue operation. Somehow, we rescued trapped employees," said Sonkar.
