One lakh youth in the state will be inducted into the Bajrang Dal with the help of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) to increase reach of the religious outfit, VHP Joint Secretary Ranchhod Bharwad said.

"Bajrang Dal is entering into silver jubilee year in 2009. To celebrate the silver jubilee, we would launch one month-long special recruitment drive in December-January and one lakh youth will be inducted into the organisation," he said in the release.

Moreover, from November 30 to December 6, a "Bajarang Dal Sant Yatra" will be organised in the state, he added.

Meanwhile, VHP will also intensify its "legal battle" with the Narendra Modi-led Gujarat government over the arrest of VHP leader Ashwin Patel, presently behind bars for allegedly sending "defamatory SMSes" against Narendra Modi, Bharwad said.

Arrest of Ashwin Patel was part of political vendetta unleashed by the Modi government. But we will fight till the release of Patel, he said.

Bharwad added that agitation programmes will be held in various parts of the state in days to come.
