The principal opposition party in Jammu Kashmir, People's Democratic Party (PDP), has remained a silent observer of developments after the December 1 Jammu rally, in which the 'Modi factor' was first seen, followed by its alleged collateral effect on the assembly elections in four states.
The party attributes its stand to its "own strong reasons" and "agendas of good governance" for the state, which, it feels, may have no bearings whatsoever of the present wave on the national scenario.
Talking to Hindustan Times, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti said her party sees no challenge from such change as the party has "gelled well" with the people of the state, with its attributes as the "best political option".
"What could be its affect here would be seen at the appropriate time, but considering the state's uniqueness due to its multifarious challenges, we do not feel that such a wave generated at the national level will have any impact here," said Mehbooba Mufti.
However, she mentioned that former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's initiative on Kashmir had affected some striking changes which had gelled well with the people of the state.
On her party's alleged leanings towards any such development that may affect state's polity, she said, "The PDP has a very strong base in the entire state and its agendas are very well-known to people who are desirous of good governance." She ruled out any allegations of meeting with the national parties while shifting the charge to the National Conference, saying such exercises were being conducted by the ruling party only.

On the election polls, she said Mizoram was yet to declare results, which may project "some other scenario".
