IT LOOKED like a scene from a typical college life Bollywood film when a group of unidentified youths in a gypsy equipped with a yellow beacon and siren, arrived at the Prestige Institute of Management and Research (PIMR) to settle score with two students and fled off with blaring siren before the Lasudia police could arrive on the spot on Thursday afternoon.
Though PIMR professor and disciplinary committee chairman Ashwini Sharma acknowledged the occurrence, the students refused to report the matter to the police.
Sharma said he saw a group of outsiders in a gypsy with the said description and a group of PIMR students surrounding the vehicle were seen in a manner indicating trouble and he along with two other professors, sensing something fishy, rushed out to intervene before any untoward incident could take place.
He claimed to have separated the students and brought them inside the premise before their scuffle could turn violent and in the meantime the outsiders went away. The incident occurred at about 1 pm and was followed with the arrival of a squad from Lasudia police station.
He said no major skirmish took place while sources say that the students were roughed up and the outsiders carried knifes and dangerously dangled a country made revolver. Sharma also stated that the college had not called the police and no complaint was filed either by the students concerned or the college administration. Nevertheless, a statement regarding the incident was taken from the students.

{{/usCountry}}College registrar ML Bais said that the information given in writing by the students Gaurav Jaiswal and Roshan Verma of BBA final year (V-semester) states that they had an altercation at the roadside parking stand in front of the college with two youths in the same gypsy about two days back.
Later they somehow got hold of their numbers and issued threatening calls to them in the night challenging them to a confrontation and gave the time and place where they turned up on Thursday.
Bais added that the students and staff alike present at the spot had noted down the number of the vehicle. The given number MP 09 U 1156, however, turned out to be that of a scooter registered with the RTO in Mhow.
SI Chauhan who had arrived at the spot asked the students to file a complaint but they refused. He later stated that the police could not investigate the incident as no case was filed and there were no complainants. The TI also refused investigation in such cases as a rule on similar grounds.
