An official press release in Chennai said Karunanidhi extended his birthday greetings to Chidambaram, who represents Parliament from the Sivaganga constituency in the state.

The state unit of the Congress organised various programmes on the occasion including distribution of sarees and dhotis for poor people and arranged lunch for the inmates of a destitute home.
