A local court had ordered the deportation of Taseen Azeem, as he had completed his jail term for spying activities, after being arrested from Lucknow cantonment area in 2006.

District police spokesperson Alok Pathak said the accused misbehaved and attacked the police personnel, accusing them of making him spend such a long time in jail.

The incident took place near Mohanlalganj railway crossing, following which sub-inspector Adesh Chandra lodged an FIR on charges of criminal assault on a government servant, and criminal intimidation. Pathak said sections of the foreigners act were also imposed against Azeem and he was rearrested. The accused has been sent to jail again after being produced in court and his deportation has been delayed.

Pathak said Azeem was earlier arrested by the UP Special Task Force for spying for Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) in 2006 and was sentenced to eight years in jail by a local court. He apparently had some resentment towards the police personnel for arresting him. He started expressing his hate and attacked them while they were taking him to Atari border for deportation, the cop added.
