Pakistan on Monday opposed the use of force in Tehran's case, saying the country has the right to use atomic power for peaceful purposes.
On February 2 IAEA voted to report the Iran to the UN Security Council over its nuclear programme.
Pakistan is against nuclear proliferation. "However, Iran, like any other country has the right to use nuclear power for peaceful purposes, under the IAEA safeguards", Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said during talks with Italian Deputy Foreign Minister Margherita Bonive.
"Pakistan is against the use of force in this case," an official statement quoted him as saying.
Earlier, Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Tasneem Aslam told the weekly briefing that Islamabad expects an amicable and diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear programme.
"Pakistan expects an amicable and diplomatic solution of the Teheran's nuclear dispute," she said, adding International Atomic Energy Agency Board will decide to refer the matter to the Security Council in its meeting next month.
She said Pakistan has time and again clarified that Iran has certain obligations as a member of Non-Proliferation Treaty and it has also rights in this regard.
