The freed Indian prisoners, including 50 fishermen and 20 civilians, were brought from a jail in southern Pakistani city Karachi and handed over to Indian officials, the private News Network International reported.

Earlier reports said there are around 241 Pakistani prisoners in Indian jails while some 400 Indians are jailed in Pakistan.

The two countries decided in November to free all fishermen and civilian prisoners who have already completed their jail term and their nationalities established on December 25, 2006.

India freed some 50 fishermen and civilian prisoners on Friday.
