The partially burnt body of Bijendrer Kumar has been sent for postmortem and the police have detained a patwari Jagdish Saini for interrogation in this connection.

Kumar was working as a panchayat secretary in the office of the Block Development and Panchayat officer at Gohana. On Friday night when he and other family members were asleep in his house, three unidentified armed persons barged in and started beating him, sources said, adding he was then kidnapped at gun-point.

Police recovered the victim's body from a place Bitora in Kasanda village after a long search. The kidnappers had tried to burn the body by placing it over a heap of dung cakes.
