"It is feared that the jail inmates may attack them (Pandher and Koli). So, security has been tightened around their solitary cells," said Dasna Jail superintendent VK Singh.

"After being sentenced to death, they have been put in solitary cells and kept out of the reach of other inmates," Singh said.

Pandher is reportedly sick and suffering from fluctuation in blood pressure and sugar levels.

Singh, however, told PTI that Pandher is under regular medical check-up and that there was no urgency to admit him to a hospital.

Special judge Rama Jain had awarded death penalty to Pandher and his aide Koli in connection with the rape-murder of 14-year-old Rimpa Halder, on February 13.

Last year, Ravindra Pradhan, the prime accused in Kavita murder case in the state was poisoned to death in a solitary cell in the same jail despite tight security.
