Para military personnel killed in Karachi strike
The strike call was given by the opposition parties to protest the death of Baloch tribal leader Bugti.
A personnel of Pakistan's para-military forces was killed in a firing incident on Friday during a strike call given by the opposition parties to protest the death of Baloch tribal leader Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti who was killed by security forces last week.
The port city of Karachi observed a complete shutter down strike following a call by the country's opposition parties which have increased pressure on the military-backed federal government to quit.
The rangers officer Misri Khan was killed in Malir district when some miscreants opened fire on a patrolling van while the driver was injured by gunshots.
In other incidents of violence, five policemen were wounded in the Baloch dominated Lyari area.
A spokesman for Pakistan rangers confirmed the death of the official and said they were trying to find the cause of the incident.
"We have no other details,"captain Fazal Mahmood said.
DIG (investigation) of police Mushtaq Shah said around 60 miscreants have been arrested from different parts of the city for trying to attack public and private vehicles and setting on fire private property.
"Some police officers have been wounded in these clashes but there is no serious injury," he said.
He said the city had remained largely violence-free today as extra security measures were made for the strike call. Some 3000 extra policemen were called from the police training centre to bolster the forces in the city.
The strike was also observed in various other cities and towns of Sindh province to mourn Bugti's death, who was laid to rest in his ancestral village of Dera Bugti on Friday.
