General secretary Neeraj Sharma said: “Against the district administration’s directive of a maximum of 25 per cent hike, schools have hiked the fee by 40 to 80 per cent and also demanded arrears.”

But a parent reluctant to abide by the Forum’s request said: “This way we will be spoiling our children’s careers.”

District inspector of schools Jyoti Prasad said: “Public schools in Noida get an NOC (no objection certificate) from the state and to get affiliated with the CBSE. They feel they are part of Delhi and managements do not listen to district- level officers. There is a need for a district regulatory body, headed by district magistrate.”

Magistrate Sanjay Chauhan said NOC cancellation proceedings have been initiated against eight schools for not replying to show cause notices. The schools, too, have formed an Unaided Public School Forum to take the up issue in court.
