The baby’s father has lodged an FIR against the tantrik for “killing his daughter”. The accused is missing.

“Suresh Shah, a resident of the Sector 9 slums, lodged an FIR on Thursday night against tantrik Raj Kumar, who stays in the same area. He alleged that his treatment has killed his daughter. The father claimed the tantrik recited wrong mantras. An FIR has been lodged against Raj Kumar. The body has been sent for post-mortem,” said R.N. Mishra, Deputy Superintendent of Police.

Mishra said the child was born on June 28 and a few days later, she fell ill and admitted to to Kalawati Hospital for 13 days.

“On August 25, she again fell ill and this time her parents took her to a nearby tantrik as her parents felt some evil spirit had caused her illness,” he said.

Unable to get help from any tantrik and convinced the child was dead they approached the police on Thursday and lodged a complaint against Raj Kumar.

“It appears the child died because of non-availability of medical aid on time as her parents took her to the tantrik instead of taking her to hospital. “The tantrik did not administer anything. He just waved a peacock feather fan and chanted mantras,” said Mishra.
