All POLITICAL parties are gearing up for the Municipal Corporation elections scheduled for October 31.
The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) excepted, rest of the political parties will finalise the list of their candidates by October 1. The dates for filing nominations are from October 3 to 6.
Most parties agreed that the new delimitation has changed the caste, community and other equations in 110 wards of the city and put the parties in bind.
Therefore, there is a possibility that a few sitting corporators may change their seats. Most parties are looking for winnable candidates.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called a meeting of top leaders on Wednesday. According to BJP’s district general secretary Hero Bajpai, “The political equations after the delimitation have changed. The senior leaders will take a final decision on the list.”
Last time, we have received over 1800 forms from the candidates but we still have four days before we take a decision on the candidates.”
About the mood in the party circles, Bajpai said, “We are going to return to the LMC again with majority.”
District president and former leader of opposition in LMC House Mujeeb-ur-rehman ‘Babloo’ said, “The delimitaion has changed all the previous caste, community equations. we have to look at the scene in the new context. Last time, we received about 1400 applications for the 110 wards. This time, we are still accepting forms from the candidates. On September 30, we will interview the candidates. Senior leaders will have a dialogue the candidates and finalise the list that will be declared on October 1.”
