He predicted new political equations would emerge in the State within three months and play a key role in formation of the next government.

Patel was speaking as the chief guest at a party workers’ conference at the Zila Panchayat Hall.

He asked party workers to go to the people to expose “corporate socialism being pursued by the present government”.

Earlier, talking to mediapersons, Patel demanded dismissal of the State Government and said fresh elections should be conducted under President’s rule.
He said the Election Commission should maintain strict vigil on elections and cited the example of Bihar.

He accused the State Government of misusing the official machinery in recently concluded Zila Panchayat chairpersons’ elections.

Patel alleged that a police official issued threats to zila panchayat members of his party. He said under intense pressure mounted by the police personnel in Varanasi, two zila panchayat members of his party Jaggu Pal and Shivdas were forced to cast their votes in favour of the SP candidate.

He said there were 20 zila panchayat members owing allegiance to the Apna Dal in the 39-member panachayat and the Samajwadi Party enjoyed the support of 19 other members.

He alleged there was large-scale horse-trading to ensure the victory of the Samajwadi Party candidate.

He further alleged that when Apna Dal activists raised objections to it, police personnel resorted to lathi-charge, resulting in injuries to many party workers.

Continuing his offensive against the government, Patel said there was no rule of law in the state.

He further said his party had decided to raise these issues in public.
