With one of the alleged spot-fixers already in their sights for more than a month, the Delhi police brass debated whether to wait before they had more players in the net or swoop down immediately. But commissioner Neeraj Kumar resisted pressure and asked his officers to be patient.

“One of the officers had suggested to Kumar that they had a case against one player, Ajit Chandila. But the commissioner asked them to carry on the investigation and unravel the complete nexus,” said a Delhi police officer.
