Patient?s death: Doctor bodies submit memorandum to DM

ISSUING A 48-hour ultimatum to the district administration, a delegation of Indian Medical Association (IMA) and GP Association, another organisation of physicians, handed over a memorandum to District Magistrate Dr Hariom and demanded suspension and arrest of the Circle Officer and station in-charge of the Cantonment areas. They said if the administration failed to take any initiative in this direction, the doctors? community would hit the street.

ISSUING A 48-hour ultimatum to the district administration, a delegation of Indian Medical Association (IMA) and GP Association, another organisation of physicians, handed over a memorandum to District Magistrate Dr Hariom and demanded suspension and arrest of the Circle Officer and station in-charge of the Cantonment areas. The delegation was led by IMA secretary Dr Anil Kumar Srivastav and president of GP Association Dr BL Agrawal, Dr RN Singh, Dr RL Agrawal, Dr PK Agrahari said that the doctors were shocked over the death of a patient Mira Rav at Presidency Hospital near Daudpur crossing on January 30 but the arrest of the Dr Shushil Chandra had generated resentment among the doctors.

In the memorandum, the IMA office-bearers said that the immediate arrest of the doctor without proper investigation was unlawful and violation of the directives of the Supreme Court. They said the arrest of doctor had increased the worries of the physicians.

Dr Srivastav said all the physicians and surgeon provide best services to the patient but some complicated situation could arose during the treatment. He claimed that the death of Mira was not a result of negligence on the part of the doctor.

Meanwhile, police lodged an FIR against Dr Sushil Chandra and his wife Dr Renu under Section 304A and arrested them. The doctor couple was later released on bail on the same day.
