Patient?s life is at risk at this hospital

JUST BECAUSE the construction of boundary wall does not find a place in the multi crore renovation project carried out by UP Health System Development Project (UPHSDP), the Tej Bahadur Sapru (Beli) Hospital has become a hub of small-time criminals. Due to this incidents of thefts have increased at the hospital. Reportedly, some notorious persons from Beli Gaon also freely roam in the hospital campus and often disappear with patients' belongings, money and sometimes hospital furniture. Moreover, the hospital does not have separate budget for deputing private security.

Due to security lapses and broken boundary wall, the Beli hospital has become very unsafe for the patients and their attendants these days. During major renovation work the boundary wall at the back of the hospital was removed.

Later a wall of the height of barely three to four feet was constructed which failed to provide adequate security to the patients.

"The hospital administration made several request to the UPHSDP engineers to construct the boundary wall for the safety of patients and costly equipment lying in the hospital. But the engineers replied that the construction of boundary wall does not appears in their renovation project and they will have to sought a prior permission from their project director for this construction," said senior consultant and UPHSDP work review committee member Dr Sandeep Chowdhary.

Since the hospital do not have a separate security budget the local people gamble inside the hospital premises. Due to security lapses recently theft took place at the Regional Diagnostic Centre in the hospital.

"It is yet to be assesses how many things have been stolen from the RDC," he added.
