PC, Nath to lead Indian team at Davos

It is for the first time a high-powered partnership was formed to represent India at WEF which will begin on Jan 25.

Finance Minister P Chidambaram and Minister of Commerce and Industry Kamal Nath will lead a high-powered Indian delegation to the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting starting from January 25 in Davos.

The participants comprising a cross-section of political, social and business leaders would come together to deliver a single message to the global community - "India-the fastest growing free market democracy", a statement by industry chamber CII said.

It is for the first time a high-powered partnership was formed to represent India at this forum, which includes senior representatives from Government-both from Centre and states as well as key business leaders from different sectors, it added.

The other delgates include Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikhsit, Rajasthan Chief Miniister Vasundhara Raje, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.

Prominent corporate leaders in the Indian team to Davos would include CII President YC Deveshwar, Reliance Industries Chairman and MD and co-chair of the WEF Annual Meeting Mukesh Ambani and Infosys Technologies CEO President and Managing Director Nandan Nilekani among others, the CII release said.
