Footpaths should be freed of encroachments and footbridge or subways be built for ensuring safety of pedestrians. It is essential to create awareness about traffic rules. Under age children should not be allowed to drive and traffic flow should be regulated by synchronizing signal timings. He suggested that a road safety board be set up for which central government help could be sought.

Mayor Dr Uma Shashi Sharma in her presidential address said that a welcome initiative towards relieving traffic congestion was being made. The help of the citizens is needed in making the drive a success.

Showing enthusiasm for the drive, IG Rajendra Kumar resolved to lessen commuters’ traffic woes. He expressed hope that the situation would improve in a couple of years. DIG Madhu Kumar said that there are 10 lakh-registered vehicles in the City and many drivers didn’t have proper training, license and suffer from road rage.

Divisional Commissioner Ashok Das, Eischer Motors CEO R Subramniam Jagdeesh Verma of Indore Management Association (IMA) also spoke on the occasion. Two-and-a-half year-old Swati Kataria informed about traffic regulations through her presentation. Superintendent of Police Anshuman Yadav proposed the vote of thanks.
