In a late night development in the Sheena Bora murder case, police on Wednesday quizzed former media baron Peter Mukerjea's son Rahul, who reportedly had been in a relationship with the deceased.
Officials, requesting anonymity, said that Rahul and Sheena were seeing each other for over a year, which Mukherjea's wife and the main accused Indrani did not like.
The city police have also seized the passport of Indrani besides her laptop and mobile phone, the officials said.
Meanwhile, police said that they would re-create the entire crime scene, which Indrani and her driver executed on April 23, 2012.
The reason for this, police said, was that the investigators will get a wider angle to know the events that transpired while committing the heinous crime.
Indrani and her driver Shyam Manav Manohar Rai were arrested on Tuesday by Mumbai Police for allegedly murdering Sheena and disposing of the body in Raigad in 2012. Both are in police custody till August 31.
In a day of fast moving developments and many twists and turns, police on Wednesday said that Sheena was her daughter and not sister.
Sheena’s brother Mikhail Bora told media in Guwahati he and his sibling were born out of wedlock but declined to reveal the identity of their father. He further said he had no doubt that “Indrani killed my sister Sheena”.
He said he knew why his sister was killed but he would spill the beans after the probe by Mumbai police got over.
Taking their investigation beyond Maharashtra, the Mumbai Police arrested former husband of Indrani, Sanjeev Khanna, in connection with the case in Kolkata.
In yet another twist to the case, Peter Mukerjea told CNN-IBN news channel he had been told Sheena was sent to the US because she was in a relationship with Rahul Mukerjea, his son from his first marriage, that Indrani did not approve of.
