Already reeling under severe power cuts in this sweltering heat, the residents of DLF Phase III have been hit by another crisis. They have not received a single drop of water since Monday evening.
This is despite the fact that the posh locality is directly connected with the water treatment plant at Basai, which is run by the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA).
"We are hit by water crisis and the authorities are shamelessly watching our condition. This has happened just because of failure in the planning by both DLF and Huda,” rued Riazuddin, a resident.
According to a DLF management official, Phase III needs 6,000 kilolitres of water every day as per the available water storage capacity.
The official said Huda has not supplied even a "single drop of water since Monday".
While admitting that water supply had been disrupted, Huda officials said the normal supply would resume by Wednesday evening. However, there was no relief for the residents till the time HT went to press.
"The commissioning work for a new pumphouse was under way. For that, the water tank had to be evacuated and that caused disruption in water supply," a Huda official said on condition of anonymity.

{{/usCountry}}According to residents, when they complained to DLF management about the problem on Monday evening, they were assured the saupply would r by Tuesday morning. "But the next morning too we didn't get any water. So we started calling for private tankers, who took advantage of the situation and increased the charges," lamented Riazuddin.
He said the DLF should "have a fallback plan for such situations".
"Earlier also we have held the DLF management responsible for such crisis, but the fault lies on part of both DLF and the Huda as they together have to ensure uninterrupted water supply," said RP Singh, a resident of U Block.
