The website has been launched for people to contribute their ideas to achieve ‘Surajya’ (good governance).

“The platform would bridge the gulf between people and the government. Democracy cannot succeed without people’s participation in the government and this should not be limited only during elections. The participation should be there in fulfilling peoples’ aspirations and needs,” said Modi, inaugurating the website.

The website offers multiple theme-based discussions for people to share their thoughts and ideas. An idea shared by a contributor will also be discussed on these forums. People can upload documents, case studies, pictures, videos, other work plans, etc on the platform.

HT tried to log in to the website after registering but it was not easy. The registration process took about half an hour and after that logging in became a tough due to heavy traffic. “We are facing some teething problems because of huge traffic,” an official of a National Informatics Centre (NIC) said.

NIC, department of electronics and information technology (DeitY) would implement and manage a platform “MyGov”. Officials in the department of information technology suggested that this platform may even be extended to act like public audit platform for government projects.
