PM to survey flood-hit Andhra

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will make an aerial survey of flood-hit districts of Andhra Pradesh on Friday while he will fly over the affected areas in Karnataka the next day after spending the night in Hyderabad.

For the second time on Thursday, changes were made in the prime minister's scheduled visit to the two states.

Chief Minister K Rosaiah announced the final schedule of the prime minister's visit to the state at a news conference.

According to the revised schedule, the prime minister will arrive in Vijayawada by a special aircraft from New Delhi at 2.20 pm and survey flood-hit Krishna and Guntur districts by a helicopter. After an hour-long aerial survey, he will return to Vijayawada and leave for Hyderabad.

Manmohan Singh will land at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad in Hyderabad at 4.10 pm He will then reach Raj Bhavan, the official residence of the state governor, and will hold a meeting with top officials to know the damages caused by the floods and review relief operations.

According to the schedule announced Wednesday, Singh was to visit both the states on Friday.
