Police confirm missing South Asian Brampton woman dead

Police say a Brampton woman who vanished after leaving her home three years ago is dead, as reported by CanIndia News. Poonam Litt, 27, was last seen alive on the morning of Feb. 5, 2009, when she left her home for work. Litt typically walked to her workplace, a dental office which was located only a few blocks from her home. But she never arrived. Her family later offered a $25,000 reward for information that could lead police to Litt's whereabouts.

Poonam Litt, 27, was last seen alive on the morning of Feb. 5, 2009, when she left her home for work.

Litt typically walked to her workplace, a dental office which was located only a few blocks from her home. But she never arrived.

Her family later offered a $25,000 reward for information that could lead police to Litt's whereabouts.

On Thursday morning, Peel Regional Police issued a news release saying that Litt "has since been located" and officers will be providing "details surrounding the circumstances of her disappearance" at an afternoon news conference.

Police confirmed to CBC News that Litt is dead, however they would not confirm any additional details about her death ahead of the news conference.

Litt had been married for four years at the time of her disappearance and was the mother of a young daughter, Kiranjot.

He travelled to India on Jan. 13, 2009, which was the last day he saw her. When he was notified his wife was missing, he immediately flew home from overseas.
