Addressing a press conference on Thursday, IG Sanjeev Kumar Singh said that a big gang of Bangladeshis was behind the dacoities and the four are involved with the gang.

Claiming that the other gang members would be nabbed soon, Singh said that the investigation was in the preliminary stage and not much could be shared with the media as yet. The accused were initially caught under the Passport Act, as they did not possess valid documents for their stay in the country.

He said that Dewas, Indore, Bhopal and Ujjain police worked in close coordination and soon after the dacoity in Indore on Wednesday, the police got hot on the trail of the gang. One person was arrested in Dewas and subsequent clues led to three more arrests in Bhopal. No booty has been recovered from them but the police claim that the gang has been identified.

Those arrested include Habib alias Mota, Muneer, Shadab alias Guddu and Mubeen. The modus operandi of the gang was to identify plush houses with many four-wheelers and servants and hide in an under-construction house nearby. Singh said that the gang members kept a close watch on the patrolling police parties and struck after 3 am so that they could leave the house early in the morning.
