A spokesman of Home Department said on Thursday that police teams had been sent to Meerut and Panipat (Haryana) to arrest the accused. The police had earlier arrested two other accused in the case.

Significantly, while the police have mounted pressure to nab the two leaders, the RLD MP and chairperson flood control commission Anuradha Chaudhury on Thursday met the Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav to demand that action should also be taken against SP leaders who were involved in poll violence on October 28 in which Rana was killed.

Commenting over the tussle between the two parties the RLD chief Ajit Singh said in Lucknow that the issue should not be politicised. He said the police should be allowed to probe into the case freely.

However the chief minister told the newsmen that there was no row between RLD and SP and issue would be sorted out amicably.

Anuradha Chaudhury said she had apprised the chief minister of the situation and he had assured thorough probe into the case.

Anuradha said that Yadav had assured that innocent people would not be implicated in the case.
