The seizure was made after sleuths of the Narcotics Branch intercepted a vehicle in Karkardooma locality of North-East Delhi on Wednesday on the basis of a tip off, a senior police official said.

Police had information that a large quantity of Nepali hashish would be smuggled into the capital for supply to foreigners staying in budget hotels in various localities.

The arrested persons have been identified as Shaukin Ali, Babu Khan, Liyakat Ali and Shehzad Ali, all of them hailing from Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh.

According to senior police officials, the seizure has brought to light the illegal drug route from Nepal to Delhi, from where there was a possibility of the contraband being smuggled to European destinations.
