As soon as the news of Dalmia's arrest in the capital by CBI reached Kolkata the city police started preparing the groundwork for bringing him back to the city.

Police sources said Dalmia would be produced at a court in Delhi on Monday, after which he would be taken to Chennai for interrogation by CBI.

"We are now readying the papers so that proceedings could be initiated once he returns to Kolkata", police said.

Dalmiya, promoter of DSQ Software, had been on the wanted list of the Detective Department of Kolkata Police soon after it started investigations into the 2001 stock scam which led to acute payment crisis at the Calcutta Stock Exchange leading to crash of the stock markets across the country.

Kolkata Police had started investigations into the case after CSE authorities filed an FIR in 2002 and subsequently 18 persons including some senior officials of CSE were arrested.

Dalmiya had obtained an injunction from Chennai High Court and tried to flee out of country in January 2003 but was stopped at the New Delhi airport by immigration authorities.
