Sketches of suspects prepared in the Mumbai serial train blasts case will be released only after investigators are sure that they matched with the descriptions given by witnesses, a top police official said on Tuesday.

"We are investigating in the right line and once we are confident about the suspects, we will release their sketches," the official said.

"If we release those sketches now, then I am sure it would lead to a riotous situation. The situation in the city is such that people would lynch people whose description matches with the sketches", he added.

He said the sketches have been prepared on the basis of information that has come from scores of people who claimed that they saw suspicious looking persons at various railway stations of Western Railway where the blasts had taken place on July 11.

"We have our own doubts about veracity of the information given by them", the official said, adding the calls from people started pouring in once TV channels started showing pictures of Zabiuddin and Fayaz, two suspects behind the blasts.

Even as there are several of those who saw such people at a particular railway station, the description provided by them has several discrepancies, the official said.
