An additional superintendent of police has been asked to inquire into the "misbehaviour" by Jaya Prada's supporters on Monday night, the Uttar Pradesh Government said in an official release here last night.

It said the Election Commission had carried out the raid in the Modi hotel in Rampur and asserted that it has nothing to do with the incident.

"The action in the Modi Hotel was taken on the initiative of Election Commission's observer SP Singh and the district administration and police only assisted him," the release said.

The EC observer, who had himself gone to the hotel, had faced opposition from the cine star-turned politician's supporters and had asked for police assistance.
