Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday suspended a Station House Officer (SHO) for his alleged custodial torture of a villager in Rajouri district of the state, police officials said on Monday.

Darhal police station SHO Farooq Ahmed allegedly picked up an area villager Gulam Qadir suspecting his involvement in a militancy related incident three days ago, they said.
Qadir was allegedly beaten up and tortured in police custody, they said adding that area people approached the Deputy Commissioner and submitted a complaint.
Taking a serious note, Rajouri Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Farooq Khan suspended the erring police official and ordered for a show cause notice to him, they said.
The rescued villager was later admitted in a Rajouri hospital.
