Political instability behind slow growth in Jharkhand: Razi

Jharkhand Governor Syed Sibtey Razi said six governments in eight years had been the principal impediment in the path to the state's progress and promised to put the state on the right track during President's rule.

Jharkhand Governor Syed Sibtey Razi on Monday said six governments in eight years had been the principal impediment in the path to the state's progress and promised to put the state on the right track during President's rule.

"The state witnessed six governments in its eight years of creation, including two governments quitting in the past one year. Political instability affects decisions of a government and their implementation," Razi said as he marked the 60th Republic day.

Giving an account on the state's slow development in areas like rural electrification, rural road connectivity, drinking water and irrigation, Governor said, "The state had lagged national average in economic, academic and social development."

"Jharkhand is under President's rule and as the representative of the President, my efforts will be to provide a clean administration which works fast. I have directed the officials to accelarate all pending projects and release allotments to complete development works on a warfooting manner," he added.

Assuring impartial and productive governance, Razi said meeting targets of development projects would help government and administration win people's confidence.

"Stepping up operations against extremists and improvement in law and order situation were among the priorities," he said.
