In a series of tweets, Swaraj made the clarification after a recent expose by a British newspaper that Keith Vaz, the well-known British MP of Indian origin, used external affairs minister’s name to pressure Britain’s top immigration official to grant travel papers to Modi.

Modi has been holed up in Britain since 2010 after his Indian passport was revoked following allegations of illegal betting and match-fixing in the Indian Premier League cricket tournament. The revelation prompted sharp criticism from the parties including Congress that demanded her resignation.
