Deputy Election Commissioner R Balakrishnan on Monday held a meeting with West Bengal's chief electoral officer and district magistrates in the wake of adverse reports submitted by EC observers to the Commission on revision of electoral rolls and in processing of voters identity cards in the state.

Balakrishnan was briefed about the situation by CEO Debashis Sen at the state secretariat here. District magistrates of all 19 districts were present at the meeting.
The Deputy EC's arrival followed three visits of EC observers to the state since January this year.
West Bengal goes to the polls in five phases beginning April 17 to elect the 294-member state assembly.
