The team, led by former union environment secretary Meena Gupta, obtained information on resettlement and rehabilitation package offered to the people facing displacement due to the proposed mega steel project.

It also inquired about the existence of tribals and other traditional forest dwellers (OTFD) in the proposed project site near Paradip in Jagatsinghpur district, sources said.

The team, which completed its two-day field visit at the site on Saturday, also sought to know whether palli sabha (village committee) meetings were held properly in the proposed area to elicit the views of local residents about the project.

"We have collected information and views from local people, officials, opponents and supporters of Posco project, NGOs and political parties. A report will be prepared on the basis of these inputs and submitted soon," Gupta said.
