Little did senior post master of Ranchi KN Sah know that a mere bribe of Rs 200 would prove costly for him 11 years later and that he would have to undergo rigorous imprisonment of three years besides coughing up a fine of Rs 10,000.

Special Judge CBI Ranchi convicted KN Sah for accepting a bribe of Rs 200 for issuing two Kisan Vikas Patras worth Rs 50,000 to a person identified as Ram Chandra Ram in December 1995, a CBI spokesman said.
The judge, who pronounced the judgement on Thursday, held him guilty on two counts - taking bribe and criminal misconduct - and sentenced him to undergo a rigorous prison term of two and half years and three years respectively, the spokesman said, adding that the sentences would run concurrently.
The judge also slapped a fine of Rs 4,000 in the first case and another Rs 6,000 in the second case, the spokesman said.
CBI had registered a case on April 24, 1995 against Sah after he was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 200 from Ram, who was the complainant in this case, the spokesman said.
The CBI submitted a chargesheet in the court on December 29, 1995.
