INTENSIFYING THEIR drive against defaulters, power corporation officials snapped more than 300 electricity connections within two days. In this drive, they also snapped the power connections of government departments, including the Seema Sashastra Bal (SSB) office on Fertilizer Corporation of India (FCI) premises and the BRD Medical College.
Deputy general manager of the corporation PN Srivastav said that this disconnection drive would continue against every defaulter, whether it was government office or private consumer. He said the electricity connections of all the defaulters would be snapped by April 1.
A committee had been constituted and the list of defaulters prepared by the department, he said.
On Thursday, the team of the corporation led by Sub Divisional Officer SK Singh snapped the power supply to SSB office for Rs 4.25 crore outstanding payment against the department in the last one decade.
The team also disconnected the power supplies under Laldiggi and Dharmshala Bazar substation and realised Rs 6.10 lakh as outstanding payment. Around 97 connections were snapped in Laldiggi, Bilandpur, Raptinagar, Rai Vihar Colony and other areas.

According to sources, outstanding payment of the District Jail is around Rs 60 lakh and the Sports College owes arrears of Rs 2.5 lakh, while the PAC camp has to clear Rs 6 lakh for its electricity bills.

They are not in a mood to compromise on the electricity connections and even the police stations will not be exempted if their electricity bills are not deposited.
