Pranab Mukherjee begins Pakistan visit

He was received by Pak Foreign Secretary Riaz Ahmed Khan and Indian envoy Satyabrata Pal.

External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee arrived in Islamabad on Saturday afternoon on a 24-hour visit to Pakistan.

Pakistani Foreign Secretary Riaz Ahmed Khan and Indian High Commissioner Satyabrata Pal received him at the airport.

Mukherjee will call on Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf to deliver an invitation from Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to attend the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) summit in New Delhi in April.

Mukherjee will also meet his Pakistani counterpart Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri.
