It was slated to begin from August 1. It got delayed because the rate card issued by the regional transport authority (RTA) did not cover all the areas where autorickshaws ply.

The airport operator has completed the citywide survey to update their list and measure their distances from the airport. “We have sent a copy of the list to the RTA for approval,” said the Mumbai International Airport Ltd spokesperson. “It is likely to begin later this week but we don’t have the exact date.”

The service could benefit long-distance travellers as they don;t have to haggle with the auto drivers or worry about doctored meters.

But those travelling close distances might feel the pinch.

A passenger will have to pay Rs 50 for a ride from the domestic terminals to Vile Parle station that currently costs Rs 11.
