President Pranab Mukherjee's wife was admitted to the Army Research and Referral Hospital on Friday evening after complaining of breathlessness and discomfort.

President Pranab Mukherjee's wife was admitted to the Army Research and Referral Hospital on Friday evening after complaining of breathlessness and discomfort.

Suvra Mukherjee is being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) of in Delhi Cantt.

"Mrs Mukherjee has not been keeping well. She has had a history of heart ailment and was feeling unusually breathless today (Friday). She was brought to us in the evening," said a source in the hospital, requesting anonymity.

The spokesperson at the President House confirmed the news to HT.

"The President has cut short his Odisha visit. He is returning as Mrs Mukherjee is unwell," the spokesperson said.

Doctors refused to comment on her condition but the sources claimed she is not likely to be duscharged anytime soon.
