"The party has already decided about its support (to UPA nominee Pranab Mukherjee). Party MPs and MLAs were told about the ways to implement this (by way of voting for him)," Karunanidhi said.

DMK was one of the first UPA constituents to back the former Union finance minister. After being officially nominated, Mukherjee kickstarted his presidential campaign from Tamil Nadu where Karunanidhi hosted a dinner for the leader.

DMK has 18 Lok Sabha and seven Rajya Sabha MPs besides 23 MLAs in the state Assembly.
