Priest, son murdered inside gurudwara

Sujan Singh (22) was sleeping inside Govindpuri Gurudwara complex Wednesday night along with his 11-year-old nephew when three unidentified assailants barged inside at around 2:30 am, Peeyush Khandelwal reports.

A 60-year-old granthi (gurudwara priest) and his son (22), a BBA (II) year student were stabbed to death inside a Gurudwara early Thursday morning in Modi Nagar, Ghaziabad, police officials said.

Sujan Singh (22) was sleeping inside Govindpuri Gurudwara complex Wednesday night along with his 11-year-old nephew when three unidentified assailants barged inside at around 2:30 am.

“The three assailants moved the child out of the way and stabbed Sujan Singh in the abdomen and chest areas, causing him to bleed to death,” said Superintendent of Police (SP) Capt. M.M. Baig.

Hearing the commotion, Inder Singh (60) rushed out to save his son but was also killed, police said.

The victims had a home inside the Gurudwara and had moved here four years ago from Hastinapur.

Police sources told HT that the murders took place out of a pending property dispute with the assailants.

An FIR was lodged at Modi Nagar police station mentioning that cash, jewelry were also robbed from her house. An FIR under section 302 (murder), 394 (robbery) of IPC.
