Amid talk of its growing influence, new Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan appears to be treading cautiously as regards the builders' lobby in the state.

Sources close to Chavan said the Chief Minister was aware about the uneasiness in a section of the builders' lobby following his appointment to the top executive post in the state.

There appears to be an atmosphere of doubt all through while dealing with this pressure group which analysts say has grown stronger than the sugar co-operative lobby that has dominated politics in Maharashtra.
In fact, there have been reports that the Adarsh Housing scam was the result of a clash between two sections of the builders' lobby patronised by rival politicians.
