LAST TIME he came over here, his first movie 'Tum Bin' was yet to be released. Even then, he was treated like a super star. Years and films after, his second visit to Allahabad is not that exciting for Priyanshu Chatterjee.

"Earlier, I was here for the promotion of Tum Bin and it was a real short and sweet visit. This time round, it is for the shooting of 'Doshi' and hence you may call it long and hectic," says the tall, handsome sharp featured Bollywood star, who is staying here for over a month. With over a dozen Hindi movies to his credit, Priyanshu may not be recognised as a star but has certainly gathered acclaim for his variety of roles including the one in the historical 'Pinjar'.
"I was never here to be a star. I am passionate about acting that's what I am here for and if you check my career graph, with films like Koi Mere Dil Mein Hai (Dia Mirza, Neha), Madhoshi (Bipasha Basu, John Abraham), Julie ( Neha Dhupia, Sanjay Kapoor) and Dil Ka Rishta ( Aishwarya Rai, Arjun Rampal), the journey can be called satisfying," says Priyanshu, who was the Delhi-based ramp model before coming over to Bollywood. So isn't he missing the commercial success? "Like every one, I too enjoy commercial success but for me it is certainly not the end of world. As far as I am getting good roles I am the happiest person," he makes it clear. Priyanshu, who had a whirlwind romance before being married to fellow model Malini Sharma for a few years and separating ways ultimately, present goal is to enjoy acting and acting.
"Though I hunt for anything that is different, I am looking forward to play some historical characters and the role of Gladiator," he says. Having a special adoration for directors like Ram Gopal Verma, Abbas Mastan, Dharmesh Darshan and Prakash Jha, Priyanshu is, however, worried over the neglect of quality writers. "I think they play an important role in film making but they are not getting their due. If we want good stories, writers should be given their due," he adds.
