The protesters, including students, marched towards the CM's residence at the Daram Karam road and tried to break the barricades, but the police prevented them and took the sloganeers into preventive custody.

Mild tension also prevailed near the Ministers Quarters in Banjara Hills, after a group of activists tried to stage protests, but were taken into custody. "At least 10-15 protesters were taken into custody after they tried to hold protest near Ministers Quarters," a senior police officer said.

The pro-Telangana activists have been demanding that the state government cancel the official celebration of the AP Formation Day on November 1. To press for their demands, four students of Osmania University Students Joint Action Committee launched a hunger strike at the Arts College on the varsity campus yesterday and demanded that ministers hailing from Telangana region should not participate in the celebrations organised by the state.
