Prof Gupta, who is an expert in membrane molecular biology, cancer immunology and biotechnology, heads the AU Department of Biochemistry and this invitation has come in as quite an honour for him as the area of this academic event happens to be Statistical Physics, a prime subject matter of Bioinformatics. The School will focus on recent progress in Statistical Physics and its interdisciplinary applications entailing the diverse fields such as introduction to Statistical Physics of complex systems, non-equilibrium Statistical physics, computer science and Information theory, biological physics and the applications to economics and social sciences.

A number of celebrated scientists drawn from France, Israel, Italy, China, Korea, India and Japan at the School will deliberate on the problem of unfolding of biopolymers' new approaches to protein structure predictions, self-organised criticality, dynamic property of biological networks, methods of statistical physics in finance, complex networks etc.

At this conference, Professor Gupta will present a research work of his research scholar Madhulika Srivastava and Dr Nagendra Gowda. The title of work is 'Assessment of Biochemicals in various diseases using NMR Spectroscopy'.

Prof Gupta has also been invited to the European Molecular Biology Organisation sponsored conference on 'Interface of Cell Biology and Cellular Microbiology Macromolecular complexes in Microbial Pathogenesis, Membrane Trafficking and Cell Signaling' that is being held at Sant Feliu De Guixols (Spain) during September 23-28, 2006.
