They were produced in a local court which remanded them to judicial custody till October 13, Ujjain SP Jaideep Prasad said.

Those arrested were identified as Bhanu Bhadoria, Fayyum, Ajay Tiwari, Sanwar Patel, Mahendra Raghuwanshi, Gaurav Tomar, Chota Shahid, Luv Shukla, Vijay Khatri, Rizwan Mansuri, Sanjay Singh and Arvind Kumar, he said, adding that with this the total number of arrests in the case has gone up to 22.

Two more accused in the case—Jeevan Dabhi and Govind Nagore—were absconding, he said.

Professor Nath was allegedly assaulted on August 26 by unruly students after the cancellation of college union polls following allegations of irregularities.

Later, Professor HS Sabharwal was manhandled on the issue outside Madhav College, leading to his death.

On Tuesday, Union Minister for Personnel, Suresh Pachouri visited Sabharwal's residence to express sympathy to the bereaved family and to enquire about the probe in the matter.
