“Most people start coming once a week as a mode of de-stressing or relaxation but soon start enjoying it so much that they get serious about it,” says Vijaya Bagai, a senior artist from Gurgaon.

Most working professionals, who are at top positions in their careers, don’t mind joining at the beginning stage and moving upwards. “Since I left school, I had no time for myself. So I recently decided to give some time to painting,” says Dr Madhu Chawla. She even quit her job at Apollo Hospital in Sector 14 and is happy consulting patients at home.

Dr Chawla is not alone in taking out some time for art. Swapna Maini, who works as assistant manager in CRY for five days of the week, never misses her art classes on the weekend. “I never thought I could paint though I always wanted to. But once I started, I was totally hooked,” she says.

“Swapna has been painting for two years and ditches her newly married husband on weekends to come for the class,” discloses her guru.
